i went to nyc for the first time this past july with my brother, josh, and our good friend, will.  a great, surreal experience!

a listing of occurrences: evolution store and pearls art supply [5 stories of art!] in soho // chinatown, bargaining in chinese, fake purses, dusty stores with large-eyed everything, hunt for the fake rolex, dinner of noodles in a famous place with ducks hanging in window front, leftovers? we gave them to a homeless man outside of our stop in harlem // little italy at night, bright lights, yummy gelato, rich people, no italians // central park, the zoo, painters, street performers dressed all in silver who are creepy and make noises to communicate with you, john lennon, people watching, a jazz band, a bronzed alice and her friends // rockafeller center, missed lady gaga by one day, business attire, no ice skating rink because it's july, multicultural flags, lego store // schools- columbia, nyu tours, hunter college, i would never get out of debt from first two and would actually die a starving artist, literally // washington square park, cake 'n shake stand [delicious, delicious] // MOMA, free admission because of target, massive amounts of people, half prolly there because they love art // lower east side, indian food in a boxcar-sized restaurant with christmas lights and red chili peppers hanging from ceiling, people watching in the park with fireflies abuzzin,' free admission to 'i am love'... oh, tilda, showing ya goods off like that, you crazy, beers at a dive, fashionable young people all dressed the same [dress to impress], 2am walks back to harlem after shopping all day [crazy white kids...] // a day in brooklyn, watching the world cup in a tiny spanish restaurant but it wasn't crowded and there was a tv so the boys didn't care, delicious pizza, de la sol, concert in prospect park [celebrate brooklyn festival], millions! of people, good music, the roots, dusk // times square, touristy touristy touristy, convinced will's bro, robert, to take us thru there, we were there a total of.. maybe 15 min? .. speed walkers, bright lights everywhere, amazing views, felt like i was really in nyc for the first time, crowds of people // grand central station, green constellations on ceiling, place vibed of history and movie scenes, will went to a rooftop party in brooklyn that brother and i dipped out of // museum of natural history, rainy day, dinos and dead things, stars and learning // harlem was cool, street vendors, mangos, robert and his school across the street from our guesthouse, a tour of the school, duane reeds, random people thinking i spoke spanish // art everywhere! of course, we had to go to nyc during a heat wave, subways sweltering H.O.T, bottled water in everyone's hand, humidity is a killa, languages spoken everywhere, different shades of skin, not as many people as i always thought [times square the exception], money stored in my shoe [i'm paranoid], a whole lotta culture packed into a tiny space! didn't have time for a lot of things.. but there's always next time!

the lack of noise and motion was VERY apparent coming back home to colorado. it took a few days to adjust.
